I would definetly take this for $5000. I got mine for $6000, and it has a 289 2v with a four speed, new fenders, and new quarters. Mine would seem to be in comparable condition, so yes it would be a good deal. In my opinion of course. Oh, does yours run and drive? Mine is also a 1966 coupe as well.

Numbers matching is a gm thing not ford.Numbers matching means the vin is stamped on the engine tranny and rear end.On a ford only way to tell is pull the starter and get the block casting code.5 grand it better have prefect floors id pass on it but thats just me.

Default I agree with Andrew....

For that price, I would pass on an "A" code coupe with a lot of rust.
I picked up a '65 "A" code coupe completely rust free (and I do mean completely rust-free) for $4500.

The rust problem means a lot of $$$ - you just keep digging deeper and deeper - I would much rather pick up something rust-free with a bad powertrain - much less trouble to fix and less $$$.

I personally gave up on buying and fixing up a mustang. I found it much easier to find one you like already done. Believe me, it is much cheaper.

I dont know I would probably pass unless the body is in great shape. check the body out. I agree that mechanical stuff is alot better and way more fun than body stuff/ rust. o also check the inside of the quarter panels and frame for rust.

Plus when you embark in such a project are you doing it to work on building or rebuilding a stang, doing a lot of the work yourself. For me, I like to do the work myself, and if I had the $$ and space I would get more machining equipment for doing the things that I have to send out.

As with everything it is only worth it if you can justify spending money on it. Personally 5k seems high for a car with rusted out floors. I have bought 3 coupes for under 1k with rusted out floors but they were all C code cars not A codes. I don't think the A code adds much value by itself. Working on the car is very enjoyable, I like doing all of the work myself and when it is done it means alot more to me than one I just bought.

Wow these peeps from area's with no rust.. Is easy to say what you are saying when you have tons to choose from but us in the area's that have rust need to deal with the rust or travel far away to find others. sounds like a good deal to me if the floors dont scare you.
