I recently installed a carpet in my 64 Mustang Pace car. It was an ACC serated edge carpet suppose to be the correct one without the toe pad. It fit terrible as it came about 1" short of reaching the rocker panel. The binding was sewed on crooked also. I tried putting extra padding under it but that didn't help much. I called the Mustang supplier I got it from and was told the same old story that they have sold hundreds of them and this is the first time they have had a complaint. They did request some pictures which I gladly sent. I called ACC direct and they would not do anything as they did not sell me the carpet even though it was their carpet. I would like to know if anyone else has gotten a bad fit with this type of carpet. I would like to try another one to see if it fits just in case I got a bad one ,but I don't want to be stuck with 2 carpets if the next one doesn't fit. It seems like once you buy something and it doesn't fit you are STUCK with it.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I used their carpet in my 65 and was happy with it. Mind you my car is a driver and by no means a 100 point show car. There in lies the difference perhaps. That's too bad. What did the vendor say, will they take it back?

Definitely contact the vendor again and ask what they want to do, it just sounds like a bad carpet. I have used ACC before as they are the main supplier of aftermarket carpet and haven't had any problems with it. I've always had to trim excess off once I got the carpet in place, which is a good thing.
The only thing is I see the possibility of the vendor not being able to do anything if you have cut or modified the carpet already.

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.
Iv'e used ACC carpet lately and it was nearly perfect. In fact I worked through VA Classic Mustang to get a custom heel pad because I thought the one included on the stock moss green was awful. No problem at all - the vendor should be willing to go to bat for you - if not, I wouldn't use them again
I may be mistaken, but I thought the 64 1/2 cars had a piece of vinyl covering reaching down to the floor from the rocker. It wasn't carpeted up the side of the rocker as the later cars. I'd check on this. ACC has always been top notch, I find it almost hard to believe that they would let something so obvious get by.
I hope that somebody isn't making fake knock offs of their carpets.

You are correct about the vinyl along side the rocker on a 64 Mustang and I have installed the vinyl which looks very good. This is where the problem arises. The carpet fits good on the passenger side but both the front and rear carpet are 1" short of reaching the bottom of the rocker panel on the drivers side. I could live with the carpet being 1/2" short on both sides as the vinyl would cover the shortage. I have tried to shift the carpet but then it doesn't fit the hump right. I sent VA Mustang some pictures but they haven't received them yet. I am hoping we can make some kind of agreement. I don't think VA. would sell fake carpet. I have always had good luck with the products I have purchased from them. I am willing to try another ACC carpet just to see if it the first one I got was a fluke.
will keep you posted on the outcome.
I received a call last Friday from VA Mustang saying I would get another carpet from ACC to replace the bad one I got from them. It arrived on Tuesday and I installed it today. It fits great. I am very happy with the fit and looks of this carpet and also with Virginia Mustang for taking care of the problem.
I have an 84 anniversary Mustang convertible. I bought it from the original owner 4 years ago with 55,000 miles. It is all original except for tires and battery. This car has a lot of wind noise. I was wondering if anyone else with the fox body convertible has a lot of wind noise? The top is original and shows some wear. My 65 convertible doesn't have near the wind noise this car has. I have a friend with an 87 convertible and he says his has quite a bit of wind noise also. Thanks
I also received a bad carpet that was ACC from a Mustang vender out of PA. The jute padding was cut short and not straight. It fit terrible. I did not know what to do. As I took a long time to get it in the car. But I just figured it was a second and that is why I had gotten it at the price that I had. ON SALE ?????Any way lesson learned! Just my two cents! Thanks
I think you got a lemon and it was good that VCM made it right for you. I have been very impressed with the service at VCM. Bought nearly all my interior parts from them even though I'm in AZ
64 Mustang power steering problem
Can anyone tell me what kind of wrench it takes to tighten the short hose from the slave cylinder to the control valve or how to do it. There is not enough room to slide an end wrench or a line wrench all the way on to tighten the nut so it won't leak. No problem with the other fittings. I haven't dropped the control valve from the steering box. Also the new hoses I got are longer than the original. The one I got from NAPA is the same length as the one I got from CJ pony. I took the old one off by cutting the hose off and using a deep socket. The old fitting had been rounded off. Looks like the last guy who put hoses on had the same problem but it didn't leak.
