Hello Guys, my soon thought that our mustang would look awesome with lambo doors, so what the heck we went ahead and bought a set, the car looks nice, it still going full restoration, just wanted to have some inputs from the old school mustang comunity.
now shoot,
do you think they're cool or lambo doors as big wheels are for ......es?
To me they should be left on a Lamborghini where they belong. As far as big wheels i won't go over a 16 unless to clear the brakes if i have 20s there bead locks on a truck.
Strickly speaking a full resotoration means back to stock, showroom condition.
Personally I dislike Lamborghini type scissor doors on anything but a Lamborghini, it's like putting a Bentley type grill on a Chrysler 300, tacky.
I've seen 18 and 20 inch wheels on 71's and the 18's looked good while the 20's were too big and also looked tacky.

so why do we even call them lambo doors
why not vertical doors?

dont get me wrong, i like vertical doors, and even suicide doors, but i think they look best on newer cars, and on show trucks. i think that doing that to an older car would trash the value of it. some may think its neat since there arent alot of old mustangs on the road, or alot of cars with custom doors..let alone the two combined..it would be a rare sight, but i think that you should leave them alone.

Prob the same reason Gull Wing doors are always called Gull wing doors even when customizers create them on a car other than a Mercedes....the manufacture did it first. So they got named for the cars that the first doors of that style came on.

Gull Wing doors are called that because the original designers or the doors on the SL thought that the opening motion is similiar to the motion of a sea gull flapping it's wings. Lamborghini referred to the doors on the Countach as scissor doors for the same reason, the opening motion is similiar to that of scissors opening and closing.

Just kidding, this car is not a show room but more like "look we restored this from the ground up" ourselves!, and will become a daily driver, at least until gas reaches $10 per galon.
i appreaciate all your inputs, these doors open 45 degrees so if you are around someone does not like the doors you can pretend they are just regular, but i would like you to see how the people's eyes pop and jaws drop when they see them go vertical, OMG just to see these faces paid the bill,
How did you make lambo doors work on a '71? there's no window metal or anything? bet that stress isn't gonna last long til the door or the roof lets loose.
