But really E85 isnt even practical. It cost a little bit less but hurt fuel economy by alot. My dad has an 08 F150 and it gets about 18 MPG highway. But if you run straight E85 it gets 11-12 O_O
I think you have to change out all the rubber fuel lines and once you get a e85 carb you can't run gas ever again with out changing carbs again.Take a look at Welcome to E85 Carburetors & Conversion
Nope, that's not it. Holley makes an E-85 carb. It's not a conversion. It's actually made for E-85 fuel. A friend bought one for his Mustang project (390 '70 Sportsroof). I'm curious as to what kind of mileage they get. Thanks for the input so far though.

Mustang Monthly or Mustangs and Fast Fords did a comparison on E-85 carbs last summer - I do not have the article, but I remember they were pricey and did not have as good fuel mileage as the regular setup.
So ....... I didn't see a reason to pursue one.
I will see if I can locate the article.

From what I have read, it takes more of the E85 to produce the same energy as gasoline, so your fuel economy will suffer by at least 10% - 15 %. And.... the E85 carbs are around $600 - $700.

To be honest, ethanol has only one thing going for it: octane rating. It is driving up the price of food, eating up valuable land, and producing more CO2 throughout it's life than gasoline, which is ironic, considering environmentalists think ethanol is the best thing since sliced bread.
Enough ranting. If you feel so inclined to run ethanol, it achieves about 30% less mpg than gasoline. Honestly, I'm more interested in supplementing my motor with hydrogen gas prepared from electrolysis. It just runs off the alternator and increases your gas mileage by 30-50%. Just something I think would be fun to try.

Thanks for the link. That supports what I assumed and what I heard and read. The carb is not cheap either. My friend paid alot. I do, however think the hydrogen source is interesting. There's more to read on it everyday.

I've heard about the hydrogen mod done on a Durango that bumped mileage from 11 to 20 or something like that

Ethanol is a scam it burns much faster than gasoline
I did a report on it a year ago, and there's really no benefit to using ethanol in anything but a high-performance car, and there's no environmental benefit to it, either.

Ive been tossing it around actually. I run high compression and for street use E85 would work great. Even at the lower fuel mileage aspect it comes out to be about the same value as Premium fuel at current prices.
You do burn about 30% more, but since Premium is 4 bucks and E85 is 3, the savings are there. (I have to run race gas, 91 wont cut it)
If you had something that ran on Premium fuel it would probably do good with it, but cars that run on 87, it just doesnt pay off. (yet)
