Default Interior kit for 1965 Mustang coupe?

I need to replace my entire interior....carpet is nonexistent, headliner is too. door panels are gone, seats are falling apart and covers are torn to shreds. Dash is cracked, as well as the steering wheel. I was planning on going with the interior kit found at Mustangs Plus, but I've read a couple cases where people complained of the quality. Has anyone ordered a complete interior from Mustangs Plus or anywhere else for about the same price? I'm not going for concours or anything here, so top-dollar stuff isn't my goal. I just want it too look better than this...

I've heard NPD mentioned, I tried going through their catalog and it seemed to end up more expensive with everything..

The rear seats seem to be the Pony seats, I don't know if this car originally came with a full Pony interior or not. Does anyone have some pics of standard interiors vs deluxe/pony interiors? I don't care at all about matching what the car is made with, just what I think looks best

Default You can probably save a little money getting a kit

I know there are several vendors who sell kits, (Mustangs Plus, Mustangs Unlimited) and you can save a little money using them.
I noticed that Mustangs Plus also includes front and rear windshield weatherstripping to replace the glass and do the headliner. Mustangs Unlimited includes sun visors.

You definitely don't have Pony Interior front seats, and it doesn't look like the Pony door handles either - this is an additional cost. Either way you go, you are going to want to replace the seat foam.

Even if you get a kit, you will need roof insulation, carpet underlayment, kick panels. door handles, etc. I would shop around a bit and see who will put a package deal together for you.

Does anyone have comparison pics of pony vs std interiors? I like the door skins andrew posted because someone decided to cut holes for speakers in the door panels...

Catalogs sell either TMI or Distinctive Industries interior stuff, although they won't always say which one. I went with TMI after talking to a salesperson at K.A.R. who told me that the TMI "white" was closer to the original than that of DI. I was very impressed with the quality and fit. Everything went exactly were it was supposed to. I had a pony interior originally and so went with that. Be careful if you mix and match. Standard door panels will not work with the pony door handles. I would suggest also that you buy all the parts (seats, door panels, visors, headliner, etcc..) from the same catalog so that everything matches. There could be slight color variations between suppliers and you won't be happy with the result. Finally, I echo the need for new seat foam - it will make a world of difference in comfort - and smell

I have used CJPonyParts for two restorations now and was very pleased also DallasMustangParts for another. I have not found anything from either vendor to complain about. I think it comes down to personal preference on who you deal with. Forgive me for not being able to figure out how to post pictures here but there are pics all over the web of both interiors. The main difference will be the seats with different patterns and colors and the door panels. If you are replacing everything anyhow you can do either just keep in mind you will have to buy handles for the Pony interior like everyone else mentioned and you will not have holes for the courtesy lights in your doors. Standard interior kits I have seen usually for around $699 and some of the vendors even include the seat foam.

I ordered mine form Sacramento Mustang, it was a two tone blue so most was on B/O for a while. Kickstand is right......you will have to get alot of suff seperate. If i am not mistaken i got out the door for just under $1100, that was everthing except a stero and sound deadener and of couuce all the little nickel and dime stuff i forgot or lost.
