Default New Mustang and Fords Mag.

The complaints are already poring in to Mustang and Fords about the merging of Mustang and Fords and Modified Mustangs. I have subscribed to Mustang and Fords since it was called Hot Rod Mustang. I picked up Modified Mustang on occasion, if the covercar caught my eye. I think the merger makes since it brings more advertising dollars to the original format, which means more color feature cars.

Comments?!!

I have a subscription to Modified Mustangs. I was happy to see the merger.

I can't say that I like it better. Anytime the vintage content is cut down, the less I like it. Even Mustang Monthly has gone to too much late model stuff. There's already several mags for those cars.

Another thing, how many 5 speed installs, disc brake installs and muffler installs do they need to cover. It used to be that they'd have some useful info like rebuilding doors and lock mechanisms, rebuilding rear differentials and articles that didn't include buying the latest overpriced richboy toys. In other words something the average person on a budget could use to improve their Mustang.

I'm from Mt.Juliet originally. I had a BMW motorcycle and use to ride up that way from Nashville. I was transferred to Knoxville in 83. Spent quite a bit of time from there too. Was shipped to Texas in 85 but till then I use to ride up that way a lot camping, riding etc. Beautiful country

Greek - you are right on the money as far as I'm concerned.

Just went through Lenoir City, Maryville, Johnson City, Kingsport, etc. last weekend. (National Guard units in the area)
Not too bad on a Blackhawk - if they only had AC.

My daughter will be at UT this next year -
Right now I am wearing a polo shirt that has "Snap-On Tools, Johnson City, TN" embroidered on the front.

Small World...........

I feel they ruined a great magazine.........if i wanted to read about late model, mofified stangs, i'd read MM&FF or Mustang monthly........Mustang& Ford was the last true 65 to 73+ the Mustang II magazine worth reading....as well as all the other Fords, like the Torino,Fairlane,Galaxie, etc...the merger truely sucks.

I also wasn't happy about the merger. Now don't get me wrong, I have a strong respect for the Mustang community and anytime I'm cruising in my '66 and see a Mustang, whether it be a classic or brand new off the show room floor, I always nod and give a little wave. But I enjoyed having a magazine directed primarily towards the classics because it was a lot of help and had a bunch of cool cars in it and was a great magazine.

One more thing that I noticed. I had a hard time finding the table of contents. The second that I opened the mag I was swamped with advertising.

This mag was a mature and informative piece. I'm now seeing a dumbed down bikini catalog. It's a real shame to loose what was my favorite magazine.

They're even printing wrong info in a Q&A section called "Joe's Garage". This blowzo, Joe Dasilva, a "Famed Pro 5.0 Racer and Mustang Shop Owner", states that 82 and newer small block Fords use a 50 oz damper and flywheel. The only small block to change to 50 oz was the 5.0 HO. The 351W and the flat tappet 302/5.0s that were not HOs still used the 28oz balance factor. What a great start guys!

I'll keep my subscription for now, for all the pretty pictures. I'll ask all my tech questions to guys like you Greek. I didn't catch that on the dampeners... but I knew it.

Thanks for the compliment diesel99! I renewed my subscription just before they announced the changes, wouldn't you know it? Oh well, at least I only renewed for a year.

I held out on renewing and they must have sent me a dozen reminders. Those darned things started coming in the mail 6 months before the sub. ran out. I think the internet is killing their business. There's tons of free stuff out there.

I am only a "buying their stuff" guy - I usually buy my Snap On tools off of ebay or garage sales, etc. for 1/3 - 1/2 of the original price - but I was looking for a door hinge bolt wrench a couple of years ago and wanted to buy one off the truck - but they had just discontinued them, and once I ordered one the distributor couldn't get it. He ended up giving me a shirt and a couple of beach towels or something after we had a lot of trouble getting a wrench.
I finally got one used (pic below)
