One of a kind vinyl top, interesting story Just thought you guys would like this interesting story. My father's father worked at Millan Ford, in Berginfeild,NJ around 1948 through 1970. He worked in the body shop. One of those years, Maybe 68 Ford had a one year special order option vinyl top for the mustang. He believes 200 were made. It was a color, full print pattern you could choose for your new car. No two patters alike. A young man came in to see his new top before it was put on the car. He did not like the flower pattern on it so he rejected it. It was put back in the cardboard tube and left in the corner. My grandfather took it home for a table cloth . My gradmother dident want it.My father has allways been a collector of military and kept it. So now it sits in the original cardboard, metal ringed tube. Its got to be the only one in existence never installed, no holes punched in it with the moldings and all. They should have all been at least installed on the car . Just seems like a nice peice of mustang history to me. |
