Default Help finding Family 67 Mustang Fastback was last seen in Illinois

The year was 1982-83. I owned a 1967 Mustang Fastback with a 289 Engine and C4 Auto. Color was Lime Green.

It was parked at a body shop just outside Shannon IL. a very small farm town just south West of Freeport IL. just 20 miles outside of Rockford IL.

The Mustang was stripped and was awaiting cash to start the rust repair.

A younger guy called me in Phoenix to say he rolled his Fastback and needed a donor body.

I’m just hoping to find this car as it was bought new by my Grandmother in 1967. Yes it was a dumb thing to sell but we all do the dumb things at that age.

If you can help please let me know.

Thanks.

If you don't know the VIN you really have no chance of finding it.

Even with the VIN and some info about the car it's difficult due to privacy laws these days and how DMVs treat older cars. If you see my sig I'm trying to find my father's 73 Grande, I have been lucky to "pull a few strings" but haven't come any closer to finding it. In reality I may never find it even with the complete VIN, details about the car, and even where it went right after my father got rid of it.

If you remember anything about the person you sold it too that's where I would start. A name or partial name is the main thing you would need and then do a search from there.

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.

Assuming you know the VIN, this is a real long shot but it worked for me.

If you can find a copy of - Mustang production guide: The "in search of Mustangs" registry & census by Jim Smart & Jim Haskell, it MIGHT have the VIN, Data Plate information and last known owner's name listed. I have no idea when the census was taken or how it was done. It was last printed in 1994.

If you can't find a copy, the Benson Ford Research Center has a copy in their library. Email them with a request to look up your VIN within that publication. It takes a couple of weeks for someone to respond. I emailed them about a month ago and I was lucky enough to track down the person who sold me my 1966 Mustang in Woodstock, IL back in 1983.

Best of luck.

^ I have that book. If you do know the VIN let me know, on here or PM and I'll see if it's listed.
