Smile Introduction and swap question,1967 Mustang

Hey,

I'm new to the forum and have a question regarding a 67 coupe.
My car (bought new in 67 by my grandfather) came with a straight 6. I have a 93 Bronco, 351W EFI w/ AOD Trans that I might like to swap into the mustang. Has anyone done such a conversion and is this a feasible swap given the age and model difference between the two vehicles? Would the rear end be interchangeable also? Thanks for any suggestions.

Hiya, welcome to the site. That engine should go into it, no problem. Check the classic sections for more info about such a swap.

Default Swap question

Thanks all,

I'll review the classic section for more info. I figured the 351 would work but was really unsure of the rearend coming out of the Bronco seems like different gearing may be in order and I'm not too sure about axle length but time and knowledge will tell.

I'm not sure, it probably would, but you will have to weld on new rear leaf perches
I did a rear-end swap from a 95 Explorer and that's all I had to do

Forget the bronco rear, get a ford 9" rear, makes it all easier.
the 351,you'll have to get mounts for..............you'll have to change the entire suspension, front& back...........don't try to use the 6 cylinder stuff already on the car, thats dangerous& plain stupid. For real ease, you could always forget the EFI & just ran a carb...............

Check Mustangs Plus or Mustangs Unlimited. Both will have everything you need to make this swap. The '67 engine bay is plenty wide for this motor - since you could get the '67 with an FE motor in it.

The bronco rear end is probably too wide and its a 8.8.Yes the 351 will fit nicely you do need to get a front sump oil pan and pick up tube different radiator for it.Here is something to read Six Cylinder Upgrade V8 - Mustang & Fords Magazine only part you won't have to do is change out the spindles you can just get new 5 lug hubs for yours and use either brakes drums or disc id say disc.

I swapped a 351w and aod into my 68 coupe . cjpony sell a kit to swap aod into car . and can still use stock shifter from stang . only trouble i had was the long tube headers from my 289 did not fit . they were 16 years old so i just cut them up and made my own as a temp fix. to able get it back to track. but if you are leaving 351 stock . there are shortys you should be able to use
