Default Something out of the ordinary

I just dug up something that came with a '67 Coupe that I bought in 1986. It is an aftermarket trailer hitch for "65-"70 Stangs. It mounts to the floor in front of the fuel tank and to the rear bumper. I remember pulling a trailer loaded with about a ton of sand and not being able to stop with manual 4 wheel drums. The only damage this hitch did to my Stang was it twisted the bumper slightly.

Hopefully this is more legible for people to read.

This hitch was on a '67 coupe that I bought around 1986. The car was a Texas car and was pretty solid and rustfree at the time.

My '68 had one when I first bought it in 1980. I got rearended and the hitch took the brunt of the impact. The bad thing was it opened up the bottom of the car like a can opener where it was attached in front of the gas tank.

I have one that is nearly identicle that came on my 1972 coupe. When a friend of mine was transporting the car to his farm for storage in 1989 he forgot to tell me that he was towing his subaru with it to put it in storage as well. (We were both in the military and were getting transfered so the cars had to go into storage.) Anywho, apperantly the subaru came unhitched at around 80 miles an hour in Arizona and he used the rear of the mustang to bring it to a stop. The result was a slight dent in the bumper and one of the side bars on the trailor hitch busted off. So when I took the car out of storage last weekend to restore it, I removed the hitch and have NO intentions of replacing it.
