Default Interchanged SmallBlock

Okay so I've been trying to think of a nice affordable way to build a frankenstein SBF by interchanging some parts.... trying to think of what the best combination would be.

I figure some of you guys may be able to help me out

A 351W with a 302 crank would be a nice high rever in theory but I would need some magic bearings to get that to work... or a lot of money.

I want to use a late model 302 block, lets say 1990, for transmission ease... I've got a few t-5's laying around and as far as I know the bellhousing mounts on a 289 are different. My idea was to take a 302 block, 302 crank, 289 rods, pistons should be the same for a 302/289 correct?, and some 351W heads.

questions are, would there be problems connecting the 289 rods to the 302 crank? what bearings would be used or are they the same? Also, with this stroke/rod combination would I run into valve interferance at TDC with the 351W heads which I believe are the same dimensions as 302 heads?

This is just me brainstorming, had a few ideas pop into my head today on how I could get a pretty nasty smallblock with some spare parts and stick it in my 1932Ford. Otherwise... does anyone have any interchange combinations that would work well? Short or Long stroked I don't really care, just something different.

Cheers,

- Dill

Default combo

302 crankshaft... 289 rods.. and then you will need a special piston to get the correct height. Like the 302 BOSS!! cause that is what you are doing!

The W heads after the 70-71 are the same heads used on the 302's, Ford just opened the head bolt holes up for the larger head bolts on the W. OR use a set of GT40s' as they are the "new" C9/D0 /D1 old W design ( to a point)

Have fun

Just me..............................
