Well, the 1974 movie featured a 1970 Shelby GT500 right? It might've been a '71 but it definitely was not a '67, also, "ad is spelled with one "d" (I know i'ma dick

The original Gone in Sixty Seconds car was a '73 Mach 1, yellow with black trim and a ginger interior. One of the scenes in the movie has the car thieves riding around looking for cars, and stating that Eleanor (the Mustang) is the "last of the big ones."
Just rented the original Gone is 60 seconds a few weeks ago - what a hoot. I especially love when he drives into the car wash with the wreck and then leaves with a unblemished yellow 73!
wasnt the original a 72-74 mach 1? i do remember that it was a ugly yellow with black trim. i like that he found a duplicate at the end..wish i could "trade in" my beaters by taking them thru a car wash
i forgot how he jumped the wreck at the end....wasnt a limo involved?
rodbender, are you thinking of the james bond movie "diamonds are forever"? it had a similar stang that was red with silver trim
The '74 movie had a school bus yellow '73 fastback.

Quoted from Wikipedia.
"A South American drug lord pays Pace $400,000.00 to steal 48 specific cars for him, and all but one - a 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1, whose code name is "Eleanor" - are successfully stolen by Maindrian and his associates."
And yes it was yellow.
My wife pointed out the ad to me and as I read it I spotted the error right away.
