Default 1968 mustang Paint Code Question

I have a 1968 Mustang Coupe that has maching numbers for both the vin and the certification plate. The paint code for the mustang is N5 The color "Diamond Blue" matches but what does the 5 stand for? I cannot find any pictures of what this pain job would look like.

Thanks!

Take a look at this website
www.nvsaac.com/details/1968_ford_paint_colors.htm It looks like N = DIAMOND BLUE and 5 = LOW GLOSS BLACK (FOR HOOD & COWL ONLY. Again check out this website.

I've never seen that particular paint job on a mustang. Any ideas on where I can find a picture? The hood on mine has been repainted.

LOL Well I guess I'm not very popular around here.

So let's move forward and help this fellow out. 1968 was the first year the Diamond Blue was offered. Since you have a convertible you should appreciate the fact that VERY few 68's were painted that color.......99% of the people you will meet will never recognize the Diamond Blue. IF they do more than likely they are terribly mistaken. My 67 was one of 99 and one of 35 with my options This car is a fellow out of MA.

Oh Squid....if the car in your "profile pic" is your car that has been repainted. Look at your thread. My car and the other car I posted are the actual paint schemes for your car. If you correct your car I promise two things...you may not like it at first...but it grows on you. number 2, you may not like it at first but folks will CERTAINLY love it cuz they've never seen it before!!!!

My car has been repainted I can see the old paint were the "newer" paint is peeling I can also see where the satin black should be on the cowl (i think the hood has been replaced). I think it wil look pretty cool repainted to the original color. I am excited to get the outside looking good but I am still working on the mechanical stuff. The mustang runs ok for having sat for 8 years but I keep finding vacuum leaks and stuff like that to fix along with the usual changing of fluids and greasing of bearings and what not. But that is the fun part right! I like the diamond blue, it is sort of tricky to the eye though because it is almost white. By the way your car looks awesome! Thanks for the pictures!

Hello. I like Diamond Blue. When the paint's nice, it's very pretty. Of course, everyone knows that Skylight Blue is the prettiest of all , but Diamond Blue is also very nice.
Oh, wait. Here's one in the generations gallery. Geez! I wish I had a car like that.
