Question Anyway to find value of 1967 Mustang without using appraiser?

Hey I recently purchased a 67 coupe 289, v8.
Before i do anything to it.. if i start replacing original parts will it loose the value ? for example: modern rims or some engine work or rad.
Is there a way of finding the value of a car without the appraiser ?

thanks. roman.

Depends on the appraiser, depends on who is looking... too many variables to give a good answer. I know my 66 is not all original, I have 17" rims and a 302 4V, AC is gone that shows on the buck tag, doors aren't proper pony doors like the interior calls for, dual exhaust isn't original... but the car is not undervalued by the appraiser. My brother's 67 is in the same boat... both are coupes, but appraised above $25,000. Can we sell them for that? Not likely right now. In fact mine is for sale for $16,000! Far from the appraised value! My best suggestion, get the appraisal, its worth it!

The market is so differnt in every part of the country, I would look on car sites like autotrader, craigslist, etc.. and see what they are selling for. That will give you a good idea of what the market in your area is doing.

Hello roman,
This is a tough question. First however look here:
1967 Ford Mustang 2 Door Hardtop price report at NADAguides.com

This is a guide to prices from NADA classic cars.

As for changing things. So many things to consider:
1. - Is the car bone stock original matching numbers etc.
2. - Has the car ever been hit and repaired. How well.
3. - Can you bring the car back to showroom condition and is that what you want to do?

For many people just having a classic is a great hobby and one that you shouldn't loose much money on if you don't spend like crazy.
As far as putting on rims etc. All these things are considered cosmetic changes and don't hurt the value unless you sell it to a museum.
I would suggest keep the parts you remove in case you decide to sell it. These parts may help.

I think you need to decide what you wan to do with the car.
For example if you paint it "Fire Engine Red" and it looks great, it will be appealing to many people that like the color. However a serious collector would not want to buy a car that has been repainted unless it was a special special car.

Another example. - 1970 Mach 1 - showroom condition original might get you $40,000.00 or better. A 70 Mach painted with a nice base-coat clear coat might inly get you $30,000.00. There also are probably fewer people that want or can afford the showroom piece.

What I am trying to explain is the car will only be worth what someone wants to pay for it. As for me, I would change cosmetics such a rims, valve covers etc. and just hang on to the old parts. It is up to you.
I hope this makes sense. Print Dad

On a '67 289 Coupe, I believe that anything that is a quality bolt on modification, won't hurt the value of the car.

Just do it the way you want it and enjoy it.
