Default Looking for sources of information on parts interchange.

I'm working on a 1966 Mustang that needs lot's of parts. I have a pretty good junkyard that has some 60's Fords but no Mustangs. I did a search and one book came up, The Ford Parts Interchange Manual by John Herd, but it had some horrible reviews on Amazon.
Thanks,
Kurt

Default I recommend this one

Auto Interchange systems makes a good book
I know they have them at Dearborn Classics
Ford Ranchero, Ford Falcon, Ford Fairlane, Ford Torino, Mercury Comet, and Mercury Montego Parts Online

The book you looked up is not very good IMO

The Dearborn Classics wedsite doesn't list Mustang as one of the cars the book covers. Are they just not listing Mustang because they don't sell Mustang parts? Just wanted to double check before I order it.
Thanks,
Kurt

Kurt -
I am pretty sure it covers all Fords - I mainly use mine for my Ranchero, since most Mustang parts are readily available (and cheaper) than Ranchero and Galaxie stuff.
I will check it tonight and let you know.

I think they don't list the Mustang because they sell a lot of Mustang parts, but when they are labeled Falcon, Galaxie, Torino, Ranchero, etc. they can charge a lot more.

So that's how it is now? That's funny, I remember back in the 80's buying parts was the opposite, if it was for a Mustang it was more.

I'll be going to Pull A Part and they charge the same price for each part regardless of the vehicle it comes from. If you need any parts let me know, they usually have a few 60's Fords. I have a near perfect 65' Galaxie fender I took off of a 100% complete car.

Anyhow, I ordered a Hollander interchange book so we'll have a review on another parts guide.

The AIS book I have like the one I showed you lists the following model designations:
Bobcat
Bronco
Comet/Montego
Cougar
Fairlane
Falcon
Ford Truck (engine group only)
Lincoln Mark III, IV
Maverick,
Meteor
Mustang
Pinto
Ranchero
T-Bird
Torino

That list gets just about everything.
I have used it mostly to see what Mustang parts will fit my Ranchero, since the Ranchero and Torino parts are high.
Most of the Mustang stuff is being reproduced and it is cheaper.

But - you are right - in the 80's I remember getting Torino parts for my '71 Mustang because they were cheaper.

I can reference some parts for you if you have questions about what will work.

I am in your neck of the woods often - I have a daughter at UT - we usually come up for three or four games and stay in Oak Ridge.
