Default 1966 Mustang

Hello,

I have a 1966 Mustang and LOTS of questions;

-What's the best way to adjust the doors? For example should I close the doors, take the fenders off and work on the hinges then, since they're so close to true at the time? How incredibly annoying is it to re-install the fenders?

-What's the best way to hang a new exhaust system without bolting the rear support/retainers to the uni-body portion just behind and below the rear seats?

-Whats the deal with the cowl? Of course mine leaks and even with the cowl cover, I have water coming in from failing seals all over. The main question is the cowl, how extensive and expensive are the repairs to return it to original condition(by allowing air into the vehicle)?

-The quater windows are an issue. Both have had the rollers pop out of the tracks because there is interference with the path. How do these window tracks end-up compressed and how are they adjusted and repaired?

-The high beam indicator is now an obscure light in the speedo instead of the centered red one where it should be. I double checked the wiring, and I don't understand why it's behaving this way.

-I installed a new constant voltage regulator and after it popped and smoked I re-installed the old one which still works. Why don't new components seem to work?

-After I have rewired from headlights to tail lights(with OEM style harness), I ask, what's the best way to upgrade the fuse panel?

-What's the best way to replace the two speed wiper motor(where can I get one?), and the blower motor?

Thanks

I'll see if I can help with one of your questions.....

Cowl repair:
This is a very time consuming repair, and I would think rather expensive if you don't do it yourself. Both inner cowl/hat assemblies cost around $125/pair.......the labor is the big part. Do a search here and you will find more reading on the subject.
I did the repair on mine, it took awhile, but it is done.

good luck
George

The "best" way to adjust the doors is to use a Snap On door hinge bolt wrench (S-shaped)- it was made at the correct shape and angle to reach the door hinge bolts without removing the fenders. Unfortunately, the wrenches (1/2") have been discontinued by Snap On, but they are still around (used of course)

This is a pic of a similar wrench -
