Default Rear end for Porject 66 Mustang/SVO 2.3 turbo

Here are some picture of the rear end for Project 66 Mustang / SVO 2.3 engine swap. The stock Lincoln versi rear end was 58 1/4 inches wide and a stock 66 Mustang is 57 1/2 inches wide. So I narrowed the rear end to the stock width of the 66 Mustang (57 1/2), so I would never have to worry about getting a rim that had the right back spacing. Welded new ends and brakets on it. Also did away with the stock versi disc brakes and am put on all new Ford Motorsport disc brake kit (better known as explorer brakes ). Put a drain plug in the bottom and a filler in the top back of the housing. oops forgot to weld the ring on the bottom of the housing so when you jack the car up you will not be jacking up on the drain plug. Now that that is done. Cut 3/8ths or so off each of the axles so they would still work. Now I need to find a 28 spline posi unit for it. If anyone out there has one lying around, just the psoi unit. I will trade you the dics brake set-up off of the lincoln versi rear end that I took off. Or I could just buy it from you? If I did not put the 4-link rear suspension kit in the car I could have just used the lincoln rear end as it was. Oh well! You can get a hold of me at bfamx2@hotmail.com . Till next time.

Is there any other rear disc that will work with it? I do find it kinda funny when you told me that rear end was the same size.

No, I said it was only 3/4 of an inch wider over all. Thats 3/8ths on either side. The stock versi calibers hit the brakets of the 4-link rear suspension. If I ran the stock leave springs I would not have messed with it. As you can see I said I am putting Ford Motorsport brakes on it (Expolerer brakes). And the only reason I did narrow it is because i put new ends on the rear end and since I had them off it was just as easy to cut a little more off before welding the new ends on. Then just cut a little off of the axle ends and you have the stock width. Piece of cake!
