Default 1966 Interior Parts Question

Hello,

I'm a new member with an all original '66 coupe. My family is the original owner and I'd like to restore the interior using quality seat vinyl, headliner, carpet, etc.

I sure would appreciate forum input on great part suppliers for interior items.

Thanks,

Geoff

Most after-market suppliers carry the same stuff. Basically two companies making upholstery (TMI and Distinctive Interiors). Some suppliers name their source and others don't. I've heard good things about both brands, but I went with TMI and was very please with the results. Fit like a glove and the colors were pretty close (not perfect). I got my stuff at Virginia Classic Mustang but as I said many other suppliers carry the same stuff and prices are pretty close all over. The good carpets come from ACC which most suppliers carry. No complaints there either. The molding was spot on. TMI also supplied the door panels, quarter panel trim and headliner. One additional note about TMI: the QP trim had creases I could not get rid of and TMI sent me a new set without question.

Good luck with the restore - lets us know how it goes. Check my profile for a few pics of my interior

Not much I can add. I did everything in my '66 fastback, except the rear seat and headliner. I got the carpet from Mustangs Unlimited, and all the reast from the Paddock. Had to work a lot to get the carpet to fit, but it was my first time. Good luck.

Thanks a ton for the insight! I'm looking forward to getting her back on the road and looking sharp. Definitely don't want to put in cheap parts, as my orinal vinyl seats lasted well over 30 years without a single rip.

Yea, I drove my 66 for 16 years and the vinyl finally went bad in the last 2 years due to some cold winters in upstate NY. Hope the news ones last as long! All the aftermarket trim pieces are generally good to although I had a few issues with wiper and light knobs. Another thing to keep in mind is sound-proofing the floors. Its worth the extra bit of money to use something like Dynamat or the cheaper and equally good B-quiet (google it) - throw that asphalt crap away! All is does is hold moisture and weight.
