Default Air Compreesor Question

Im going to buy a Air compressor tomorrow, the reason i was buying one is for sand basting. I saw one at home depot that was pretty nice, I was wandering if this one would handle the load. I put a link to it. Thanks in advance.

You're still going to give that compressor a work out and have to wait at times. Sandblasting uses alot of air and 10-11 CFM isn't much. The biggest drawback to that compressor is it's a single stage. A 2 stage will be better and one with 18 or so CFM.

Personally I consider that compressor a step up from a roll around. For general use it would be OK but once you start using heavy air demand tools with it (sandblaster, DA) it will be trying to catch up often.

The belt drive and cast iron pump is a good feature though and basically what you'd find in higher end compressors (not including screw drive, they're a class of thier own).

From my research the ratings of HP or CFM are subjective.

Usually the Wal-Mart/Home Depot/Lowes brands are highly over rated.

Look for US made models and ignore the CFM and concentrate on the HP rating. Many sites will advise the opposite.

I'll not sell the Campbell Hausfield bought at Wally World, but will supplement it with a quality 2HP US made unit found on Craigslist, found for 1/2 the selling price from Grainger.

If need be I can use BOTH to supply my needs while still having the mobility of the cheap one for mundane jobs.

IMHO, the 110V units will just not cut it for any work other than the occasional need. ANY 220V model is better than a 110V one!
