This is from NPD..... Can anyone tell me if this is basically what I need to complete the front end besides brakes? |
No, that won't rebuild your front end. I have the NPD catalog here and that is STRICTLY complete hardware ONLY for the chassis. That doesn't include the actual parts you need.
Looking at the NPD catalog I don't see the stock kits like Mustang's Unlimited has (and what I used on my car) but NPD does have the aftermarket performance suspensions in kits.
Before buying parts decided what exactly you're going to do with the car as in what motor, brakes, and what you want the car to be when it's finished. The big block motors require different parts and if you convert the drum (if the car has front drum) brakes to disc then you'll need other parts. Same if you add power brakes. You really need a plan of attack, otherwise you'll be buying the wrong parts and having to change them later.
(Right after I bought my car in '98 I installed a complete stock style front end rebuild kit in my car. I also redid the manual drum brakes on all four corners. This serves me well, the car is show/cruise use only and not an everyday driver. The stock suspension does have a few poor points to it as the Mustangs were cheap transportation cars to begin with. I want to keep my car "original or close to" but I'm not "concourse" either. I started buying Opentracker parts for my front end to install. They are all rollerized and not the metal parts with rubber that Ford used. They are all bolt on, no mods needed so no permanent changes will be done to the car, it can easily go back to dead stock but it will ride and handle better. I'm still keeping the drum brakes, for my use I have no reason to upgrade.)
