Default Classic reclining seats

on a 66 mustang the seats were not made to recline.
my question is : what was the first year that ford made reclining driver/passenger seats.
i am 6-5 and near 300 lbs. people always tell me i am too big for that car. once i saw some hot girls laughing at me while i was getting out of it. i absolutely will not sell it though. hahahah
so, i am looking for a way to get a reclining seat from a later mustang that will bolt right in. or a seat with a longer track to slide the seat back more. any suggestions. when i am sitting up in the car, no one can see my face from the outside.

I'm not sure what kind of condition the car is in, what your abilities are, or how much work you're up to tackling, but if you're up for drilling out a few welds and re-welding the pieces back in place (or having a shop do it) you might want to see how feasible it would be to move the seat platforms back on the floor pans. They'd be under the carpet, and only a keen eye would probably catch it, but a couple/few subtle inches may give you the room you want while keeping the stock appearance...

yeah as big as you are moving and maybe lowering the seat pans is the better idea. This will give you a idea of the job Mustangs Plus - Tech Articles - Lowering Seat Pans (Page 1) basicly any mustang seats will work even the fox body with a little drilling or most mustang part houses sell after market seats that will bolt straight in.

I installed fox body seats ('87-93) in my '67 coupe and am very happy with the extra leg room and roof clearance is the same as my stock seats. Not quite your size as I'm 6'1" and 205lbs. It doesn't feel like the forward seat area is any higher, less than an inch if it is.

I used the sliders that came with the '90 seats I picked up on Craigslist for $75 and drilled new holes to put grade 6 carriage bolts in with a ~1" wide plate steel spacer. Now my seat goes back farther than I even need it to.

Sorry the manage attachments button isn't responding for me.
I really like that the seats recline and slide smoothly, I hooked the spring up so they work as they did in the '90 and they have electric lumbar (haven't hooked it up yet).
I like the added safety of headrests ('67's top stopped at my shoulder blades - no support). 3 point belts will be next.

I'll be getting new seat covers from TMI stiched to appear as the originals (horizontal stiching, etc.) and to match my rear seats.
If the pics don't link PT/PM me and I'll email some.
Jon
