Default 1965 Mustang - Swaping Points for PerTronix Ignitor II

I have a 65 Ford Mustang - 4bbl Holley, 302 V8. I want to install the PerTronix Ignitor II as followed in the below link:

How-To Install the PerTronix Ignitor II

However, I do not want to have to purchase the Pertronix Coil. Can i use my existing coil? Will it hurt it? Should I notice any difference in the way the Ignitor works?

Any help would be great!
Thanks!

Me too, I'm using the repro "yellow top" coil with the original Petronix. I stayed away from the II due to the higher failure rate, they are more sensitive. I never bypassed the pink resistence wire on mine neither.

So it sounds like I should stick with the Stock Coil and the Pertronix Ignitor I. Not the II. Is there anything special I need to do once I install this device? Just take out my point and rotor and be done with it!

Thanks for your help!

You keep the rotor, it's still needed. You might want to replace it if it's old.

The points, condensor and ground wire are removed. I detailed the installation on my website here Electronic ignition

What type of ignitor would you recommend? the I or the II? I am probly thinking the I so I can use it with my existing coil.

I personally would stick with the I.
