Default 1966 Sprint 200 Side Accent Body Stripe

Hello! I'm in the process of restoring my 1966 Sprint 200 mustang and I am having a devil of a time finding pictures or a description of the side accent body stripe that the Sprint 200 cars were supposed to come with.

I do know from reading old advertisements that the stripe is supposed to be painted on and be the same color as the interior. I do not know how thick it is supposed to be, where exactly it begins and ends, or whether or not it tapers off. I would be very grateful for any help or pictures anyone could provide. Thank you!

Hey, my Sprint 200 is missing its accent stripe. From what I could find, the stripe would have been red, black, or white. I asked someone a while ago on ebay who was selling a Sprint 200 what size the stripe was. He said the stripe was about a 1/16 inch wide, and about 1/16 inch from the edge of the c curve. From all the photos I can find, it starts on the fender right behind the headlight door, and ends near the MUSTANG badge on the lower front fender, where the c curve flattens out into the body.

Man, I could've helped out a few years ago--my '66 coupe had the Sprint stripe, but the car has since been redone as a GT and I couldn't see sticking the spring stripe back on it.

I believe I've still got some pictures of the correct Sprint stripe. PM me your email address, and I'll send them along.

I was trying to help you looking for pictures but all the sprints found had no stripes,
what I found is info about this model and maybe the reason is that side accent stripes
were optional equipment.

"...For just $39.63 over the base sticker price of $2,398.43, you got the Sprint 200 Option Group,
which consisted of the Mustang's standard 200ci six, body side accent stripes, chrome air cleaner
with Sprint 200 air-cleaner decal, wire-style wheel covers, and a center console.
These were sporty options that cost a lot more if purchased separately.
The Sprint "A" package included a three-speed manual transmission for $39.63.
Sprint "B," for $163.40 more, got you the C4 Cruise-O-Matic transmission."

Hey thanks Lucha. I have been trying to find the price of the Sprint B package for forever, because mine is a Sprint "B" with the cruise-o-matic. But the base price in 1966 wasn't $2,300 (rounded). My Mustang Red Book says the retail price for the base Mustang in 1966 was $2,416.18.

I have both those ads, but neither of them say the price of the car or the package. My Mustang redbook says that it is $2416.18 for the base price of the cars. Oh, the accent stripes has just flat ends. There is one on the cover of my Mustang redbook, and it shows the end of the stripe behind the headlight door.
