VirginiaClassicMustang.com has a locking gas cap that fits a '65. It doesn't look like your stock '65 gas cap, but it does have a flip up Mustang emblem, which hides the keyhole.

P/N: ER-510........$69.95 (roughly 1.5 tanks of gas)

Default anti syphon filler neck

We are using a 71 flip gas cap on The 66 and the twist cap under it. The problem is there is no room for a locking cap and we were concerned with possible gas theft.
I looked for those coil inserts from the 1970's that everyone put in the filler necks but nobody makes them any longer. We decided to use 1/4 inch stainless steel wire mesh and inside the filler neck and secure it with pop rivets.
Here is the link for pictures if you are interested:

Nice link--I like what you've done there! But why go to such trouble on a car that has the gas tank with a built-in drain plug? It seems like removing the drain plug would be much quicker (and more discreet) than trying to siphon fuel out of the filler neck.

LOL, yeah I am hoping that thieves forget to bring a 7/16 box wrench with them when they grab the siphon hose to go stealing. Hope they just move on to an easier target.
But then they could have a tow truck and take the car WITH the gas.
I guess it is only a deterrent and not a prevention since I am using a cap that I can not lock (71 flip style) on the 66.

Here's a pic of a Mustang with the locking gas cap I mentioned in an earlier post.

My biggest concern would be someone poking a hole in the tank to get the gas. If they want it bad enough, they'll get it.
