If you put a pair of K code heads on the motor, drilled and tapped the block for the larger main cap bolts, used a set of K code main bearing caps, or ( much cheaper

) a set of the mexican caps, got the beefier connecting rods, bigger balancer, etc... You would have a K code motor, it just wouldn't be an original K code motor. The K codes and A codes used the same block, intake manifold, and crank shaft. The cranks for the K codes were tested for hardness, and if the passed, they went in a K code, if not, they went to an A code, or C code or something. A lot of that K code stuff isn't cheap, but, yes, you can bring an A code motor up to K code specs.
