Regards brotherhood, i have an inquery about a mustang i bought recently, the person who sold me said that by the end of year 1967 this car had an special edition that came with an original 302 and front disk brake, also the hood had the opening like 1968, and also brought the manual book for year 1968.. can this be truth? for that i want to know if the car has been restored as an 1968 rather than original 1967. thanks for your acceptance.
The quickest way to tell what year your car is the Vehicle Identification Number. What is your VIN?
Do you have a Door Data Plate on the drivers door? What are the codes on that data plate? This gives all the info on what the engine, trans, interior, paint etc. that the car was built with.
Once you get to know Mustangs more, you'll begin noticing the styling differences between the two model years.

Hello. You have a car that has been restored as a 68. Ford was not building 302s during the 67 model year, and phased them in during the 68 model year. The person that sold you the car is mistaken.
My VIN is AJ01GL10186 it was assmbled in venezuela, a coupe style november fabrication. The person who sold me the car told me that in the last two months of 67 fabrication they started to make like 68 parts of 67 models.
thanks again friends.
I've heard of other country built Mustangs but the only info I've ever really been able to dig up is the Mexican cars. Basically because several of them have migrated into the U.S.
Now that we know your car isn't a U.S. built car then it didn't follow the same factory rules as ours. Your car may be original, it's just the 302 that seems to still throw it off but who knows since Mexico had thier own 302s so it's possible other countries did too and started using them at a different date than we.
The Mexican cars, while similar to U.S. cars, had many changes that still set them apart. I'm sure your car would fit in this catorgory too as each country has it's own motor vehicle regulations and may also specify a certain percentage of parts have to be from that country. Which means some parts would differ from ours.
The hood with the turn signals in the vents was available in 67 too. It was part of the exterior decor package and may very well been available on your car as part of that package, a stand alone option, standard for those cars built there or just added afterward at some point in the car's life.
(I know someone would ask or suggest so I have to add this too. Marti can provide no info for non-U.S. built cars.)

Hopefully a 1969 convertible or Sportsroof (non Mach or Boss) for next Mustang project
Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.
L.............November 1966Scheduled Build Month (Cars built in Venezuela and Peru used the standard U.S. "A-Z" coding, skipping the letters "I" and "O")
10186......Unit Number
Do you have the Door Data Plate codes? We can then determine the engine, trans. etc.. it came with when new.

thanks again brother, ragtopstang, your info vas very helpfull as well as the other brothers that helped me, and i think that my car is originaly with a 302 and some 68 spec.
i am trying to get more familiarized with this page so i can post pictures and other stufff..
Since your car was built in November 1966, I don't believe it originally had any '68 stuff on it or the 302.
Do you have a Door Data Plate like the one I posted a photo of?
If you post a pic of the door tag, we can determine the engine and transmission it came from the factory with.

They used the same engine codes as the US for cars built in Venezuela and Peru, so if he posts the Door Data Plate info, we'll know. Hopefully it's still there.
