I've heard of this before. NPD isn't the only one to pull that sender off the market as many of the other suppliers recieved them too. There were posts on the VMF about them leaking around the pick up tube.

Scott Drake has to fix the problem with these senders, the suppliers really don't have anything to do with it, but SD should take notice when they lose demand for this part.

Default Had problems with this part too.

I just finished this swap with the Scott Drake part and had problems too. My original sending unit had a hole in the float so it was reading that I had an empty tank all the time. I installed the new "Drake" part then 1 week later had the same "empty tank" result. After that I pulled out the new unit and found that the plastic float on the replacement part had a crack in it and caused the float to fill up. Luckily I kept my old sending unit so I used some gas tank repair putty I got from NAPA and sealed the hole in my original brass float valve and it has worked great for about 3 weeks now.
My advice to anyone that wants to install a new unit would be to install the brass float replacement unit or see if you can just fix the one you have by repairing any leaks.
