Van Alstyne, TX is about 300 miles north of Houston.

Default Who is Veronica?

New here, who is Veronica and could she help me find out why I found 2 different Vin numbers on a 1968 Coupe I was looking at? Door data plate and fender tag showed one VIN and the 1 on the dash was different, only off by 1 number?

Veronica is the best here for the classics. I'm on the "if I get to Houston" list too...

Hi again. What in the world does one say to all of that? You guys are the best, and each of you can consider himself thoroughly hugged. That is so sweet. But, again, it's a community effort here. There are many knowledgeable here, and everybody does what they can to help out.

As far as the VIN discrepency that Mustangshorty mentioned goes, I would go with what the dash tag says for a couple of reasons. One, that's the VIN that the DMV is going to go by, two, the door tags and buck tags can be bought brand new and say whatever you want them to. If the one number that is off is one of the last six digits, that isn't really a big deal anyway. However, if the problem is with fifth digit, as in the vin tag on the dash says 'T' and the door tag says 'S' or something, that is something that I would definitely investigate further. The VIN is also stamped on the inner fenders in three different spots. I would want to see what Ford stamped on the car itself.

Thanks. The DMV in NY is going by what is on the door tag and not the dash tag on this car! Weird
