A friend of mine with a 66 coupe isnt into all out performance but he wants some fun with the car. Ive been telling him forever 5.0 swap and I think hes going to do it. What would seem like a reasonable ET for a '66 coupe with a 5.0, Weiand Action Plus and Holley 600 vacuum secondaries, 1 5/8 cheapie headers, C4 stock stall, and 3.55s. I think 14.50s is reasonable, its basically a 5.0 with the AOD minus 500 pounds, with headers and smog delete maybe minus a few ponies for the carb and intake.
What do you guys think?

Depending on which year 5.0L you use, and based on the specs you posted, you'll have a 1/4 mile time that falls between 14.95 - 16.1
it's impossible to tell you your eta...there are so many factors, rear gears, limited slip or not, drag radials/slicks, etc.
A good bone stock late model 5.0 engine 87+ will get you deep into the 14's with no other mods. A friend put in a rebuilt 5.0 motor into his 66 falcon, and clicked off mid to late 14's on street tires with no other mods.
As well, the 96-01 explorers had the gt40/gt40p heads.
grab one of those 5.0's and you should be clicking off 13's....I have a 97 explorer 5.0 in my 86 mustang convertible, which is a lot heavier than a 66 mustang, and I'm doing mid 13's

No it's not impossible to tell because he included all the major info for the car: Body style, engine, transmission, gear ratio, fuel system. That's all you need to get a ballpark 1/4 mile ET.
A 1986 convertible with a 5.0L from the factory, had a curb weight of 2,853lbs. A 1966 coupe with a V8 had a curb weight of 3000lbs. The 289 V8 in the 66' weighs 460lbs and so does the 302 he'd be dropping in, so the 66' is still heavier.
With a manual transmission he might see 13's but with the C4 automatic, that's going to add between 1.5 - 2.35 seconds
man, i'd be the happiest mofo on the planet of my convertible EVER weighed 2800 pounds.
Mustang convertibles from 83-93 weighed in at 3300 pounds from the factory. I know this from both documentation and personal experience amongst MANY convertibles over the past 15 years.
My main point was that many forget the 96+ explorer motors. These motors, with a good intake and carb (or the stock efi intake they come with)...will make an easy 75 horsepower over an 87-93 motor. Grab a 96-01 explorer motor, and that mustang will hit 13's all day long.

do a google search on et calculator
the thing works great
you plug in your cars weight and est rear wheel horsepower and it will spit out a very accurate est for ets I did my 1957 wagon before taking it to the nostalgia drags this year and being realistic about rear wheel horsepower it told me 14 .20
my best time was a 14.23
but if you plug in the wrong #s or your car has a problem (like no traction or it bogs at 2500rpm ect.....) it will not be accurate
