Default 1966 mustang locking

ok i try to lock my mustang through the outside with the key and it doesnt work when i am inside the car i lock it but as soon as i close the door the car unlocks i have no cluie how to lock it?! anyone have answers or ideas?

It sounds like the lock rod has come unattached from the exterior lock cylinder. The reason you can't lock it from the inside, and then shut it is a safety feature, so that you can't lock yourself out of your car.

You may have to remove the door panel and visually check the locking mechanism. Make sure all rods are attached and not in a bind.
