Just wondering if anyone has the production breakdown on '68 Fastbacks in Diamond blue? I've been slack and haven't gotten around to ordering my Marti report.....
Color is, well, interesting and would prefer a Brittany blue repaint but also like originality. A fine line to walk and one every Lime Gold owner has walked, I'm sure .
Thanks,
Klaus

of 42,000 ...there was roughly 12,000 with Diamond Blue for 68! Hope that is what your looking for. I've seen 6-7 in my lifetime!!!!! That is why I'm keeping mine all original. 1967 had only 99.
More than likely your car was a DSO 17 ....out of Washington DC

Dang JAY!!! You beat me!!! LOL ....where did you pull that from? Best I could find was the 12,000??? I can't imagine 11,000 of them were coupe's and verts...but that was the best I could come up with. You just don't see many Diamond Blues. Of the 6-7 I have seen pic's of ....and only 2 in person.....all of those from within the last year. I don't recall EVER seeing this color before I got mine.
Really curious about your source ...I have several books and sites and none were more revealing than the 12k. Good job!

I pulled that info from Kevin Marti's book "Mustang.......by the Numbers (1967-1973)".
I have 5-6 Mustang books I keep here next to the computer, plus a few others on a book shelf when needed. I have a habit of buying books during the winter, when I can't do much with the car itself.
In 68 there were 14,419 Diamond Blue cars total. That's 12,665 coupes, 793 fastbacks, and 961 converts.
Diamond Blue did become much more popular in 68 than in 67 even though 68 was it's last year. It was never one of the more popular colors in 68 either.
In 67 there were only 2,677 Diamond Blue cars, 2,577 coupes, only 1 fastback (!) ,and 99 converts.
RPM, I may have already done this for you but here's the 67 Diamond Blue convert interior code breakdown for you. If you want that color (or any other) broken down in other body styles or years just let me know.
2A.....35
2B.....60
2D.....1
4A.....1
6A.....2

Hopefully a 1969 convertible or Sportsroof (non Mach or Boss) for next Mustang project
Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.
Yep mine is a 2a so hence from the Marti Report....one of 35. 67Rags has a friend with the "N" code and "red" interior of which one of 60 (2b) of the 99. Mine also has an "O" option axle......after getting the Marti, I learn that my car was 6 days late out of production and the axle was from the Thunderbird line along with other 68 options like 68 disc brakes. My car also has the "68" C- stripe that is on the report as well. hmmmm 68 stripe on a 67 from the factory (or possible dealer) but reports say factory. I will put it on when I repaint the car ....because you KNOW some cat will walk up and tell me it isn't suppose to be on there!!!....LOL

I took a color photocopy of my Marti report and laminated it. I lay it on top of the dash at cruises and shows for people to read. You could do that too and then there's proof of how the car was ordered complete with the C stripe.
Being a late produced car it is not uncommon to find some next model year parts and options on it.
The interesting cars to me are the wierd color combos. I'd love to see a deluxe Marti report on them to see if they were stock or customer ordered. There was a Meadowlark Yellow 69 convert on Ebay last year with the Ivy Gold interior. It would be interesting to know the story behind that yellow car with green interior. Back then even though they had suggested color combos you could order whatever you wanted, even a green car with red or blue interior!

Actually, my friends '67 'Vert is a N Code (Diamond Blue) paint with 2B trim code, but that's Two Tone Blue. 2D is the red interior. I only read that there was one produced. What an ulgy color combination! It's interesting too that only 1 Black Bench Seat interior was built with Diamond Blue paint.
Jay H 237, does the book give Top color data for '67 'Verts? Were the only choices Black and White?

The book doesn't break down the data on how many of what color roof. I looked at another Marti book and there's 3 color choices for convert tops, black, white and parchment in 67. Now Veronica may be able to help here, I thought the earlier cars (1965?) did offer blue as a color choice?

Jay seems i read before someplace that the Diamond Blue had "some" Blue tops...but not sure.

I'm still here!!!! Sorry guys, new baby and home addition made for few hours in front of the computer.....
Thanks for the info!! Seems my car is one of 568 as it has the 2B (or not 2B Ha Ha, cough..) interior. Can't wait to get out in the garage and get started on the proper restoration it deserves. This summer I'll have to be content to cruise in the rust-bucket Galaxie conv.
