Greetings!
I just tried to sign on, but apparently I am no longer in your system.
It's too bad. I had several posts and a lot of good restoration information.
It doesn't suprise me. I've been gone for quite sometime. I'm what many of
you would refer to as having gone to the "Dark side".
Prior to now, I was formally 65 Fastaback.
I have no brand loyalty when it comes to classic cars.
For me, it's like my collection of Hot Wheels. If I like it and I can afford it, I buy it.
I have attached a few photos of the old girl and my current project driver.
When I found it, the original paint was still on it. A Michigan barn car,
a lot of elbow grease got her back to a five footer. I had to strip out the
engine compartment, hoses, wires were dry rotted, radiator, alternator,
battery replaced. I cleaned the engine compartment itself and repainted the motor.
As for the interior, I had to toss the carpet and headliner which, were critter
infested. I stripped, repaired all the fiberboard rear panels, air vents and sanded
down the rusted floor panels, primered and painted.
Just before I bought new carpeting, I got an offer from a guy from the South
I couldn't refuse. It's kind of an Oxymoron. A car from the North going to the
South. Time and space - If only I have kept all the full scale cars of my life like all
of my childhood toys (I still have) including Matchbox and Hot Wheels from the
early 60s through the mid 80s, my Johnny Lightning's - All from the 60s.
Anyway, if there are any 65 Mustang fastback folks out there ever interested in
knowing how to disassemble and restore the interior panels, let me know. I saved
photos and can talk you through the repairs. Also, the engine compartment and
steel wheel covers as well.
Rudy
