Default hi-po mustang motors.....

i know that they made a hi-po 289(solid lifter 271 horse) motor but what about the rest(i beleive that 67 was the last year of the K motor)? did they do they same for the boss 302 and the 67-68-69 gt cars with 302s 351s and 390s?if so what made them hi-pos?

You are correct, 1967 was the last year for the 289 hipo in fact the 289 in general. Ford started to use the 302 in 1968 and introduced to 302 Boss in 1969. The Boss motor shares a lot of the same attributes as the 289 hipo. You could say that the hipo was the predecessor to the Boss. The only other engine that I know of with an HP designation is the 390 HP which is also called the Police Interceptor. Ford used hipo to differentiate the particular build of the motor from others of the same CI. They did the same thing with CJ, SCJ. There was also a 289 Challenger (A code) which was just a C code with a 4bbl carb.

hi-pos had a great cam,4 barrel, solid lifters and healthy compression, and backed with a sweet gear ratio.

Sorry, but C code 289's were still being used for the first half of the 1968 model year. They finally dropped it midway through 1968.
