I'd never use a marine engine main reason is they don't have a coolant system like a car they suck up water from outside the boat and spit it back out.So the water jackets on it are probably trashed from all that nasty water its used.

sorry there were more than a few questions than i stated. is there a way to change the coolant system cheaply and water jackets so that they will work properly on an automobile?even if it means completley disassembling the motor?also what are these motors worth?

The problem is the water jackets inside the block are trashed from the years of nasty river/lake water it used.By the time most boats remove them they are only good for scrap metal. If your budget is tight you might want to forget a big block both the fe and 385 get pricey fast.Price really depends on which engine it is and does the person know what its worth.

i have a 427 side oiler with the $ on the crank the tunnel port heads and high riser intake complete from oil pan to carb it needs rebuilt but i was offered 10,000 for it this year at the carlisle car show in pa i live close so i drug it along just basically to get a idea of what it was worth but i have seen others go for the 5000-6000 dollar range that need work but mine will sit for a while since they are very expensive to build
