Default Fiberglass Dash Pad

Has anyone ever seen a fiberglass reproduction dash "pad" for a '67 / '68 Mustang?

My car had one when I bought the car back in '93. I've since removed it and put in a nice repro soft pad. The old one is up in the attic right now.

Default They still make plastic dash caps for certain models

I do not think I have seen fiberglass dash caps, but I have seen hard plastic caps that cover an existing dash pad that is cracked. These plastic dash caps are glued over dash pads that may be cracked, faded, etc.

In 1993, dash pads (if not NOS) were pricey and probably not a close match to the original - just look at the new Ford tooling dash pads that have been introduced in the last two or three years.

It is still common to see the dash caps available for models such as Torinos and other cars where the dash pads are still very cost prohibitive to obtain. A dash pad may run $300 - $400, while an ABS cap may be $50 - $75.

I don't know I'll check it out.

Default These are not uncommon..............

Most of the major parts vendors sell these - just go to one of their sites and search on dash pad cover or dash cap.

They are billed as a cheap alternative to replacing the dash pad, and a lot less trouble - just glue on over the cracked dash pad.

A cheap alternative yes but I think removing the old dash pad and replacing it would be easier than trying to mess around with gluing on a cover. I have not used a cover before but I did replace the dash pad and its no trouble at all.

What I'm talking about is not a cover for the old pad. It's a replacement for the pad. It's made of fiberglass and has the fake stitching along the edges like the original.

For a few years after I bought the car, I didn't know the difference. I later opted to replace with a soft repro one. The old one is buried in my garage attic now.

Could have been a repro that isn't made anymore. The repro pads for 67/68 today are close but not exact to an original, the grain is too pronounced.

Original tooling pads are available for the 65/66 and 69/70 but the Ford tooling for the 67/68 were destroyed so the repro is the only pad available for that year.

Hopefully a 1969 convertible or Sportsroof (non Mach or Boss) for next Mustang project

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.
