Default 1970 Mustang 302 2bbl Performance Upgrade

Hello all, posting virgin so go easy.
I am think about starting to plan a mild upgrade of my 302 2bbl, all stock rebuilt 30K miles ago. Looking for a little more HP and MPG. Maybe a carb and intake manifold upgrade or even new heads. Do I need to replace the cam to make heads worthwhile? Your thought and concerns please.

PS I may have posted this earlier but I could not find it. Still learning.

if you going to change heads, yes a cam swap would make the most of it. but probably a carb/intake swap and headers/good exhaust setup would work for you. look at EDELBROCK,they some very good combos, from mild to wild!

If you'd like to get some serious MPG help.....and want a nice highway cruiser, look at a OD type tranny conversion....either a T5 or AOD depending on your desire to 'row' your own or not.

I've not done it yet, but getting started on a '70 Grabber and not planning on putting a 3 speed back into her and looking seriously at this myself.

Good luck and keep us posted on the efforts with the engine work!
