Default 1968 Mustang with question on block casting number

Happy New year everyone, I have a 68 Mustang convertable with a 302 engine, the casting number one the block is D10E-8015AA I assume the engine is out of a 1971 what type of car what does the "E" and the "8015AA" represent

The o after the D1 is the code for midsize car line the "E" stands for engine part. The 6015 is fords part number for a block and the last 2 letters are engineering codes.

It is a 1971 or later block. It could be a 1972, 1973, etc. depending on the part. A part manufactured in a given year often has older casting #s if it wasn't changed.
