Thanks for the clarification on the horn location, it was something I noticed today on a car I took chances to win on. So now I know it's an early 65 convert. I was staring at the horn down there wondering why someone did that! I focus on the 67-70 cars so some details like that I never paid attention to.

(It's a 65 convertible the Lions club is raffling off, the drawing will be in mid-October, they are taking it to local shows this summer and selling the tickets. The car is Rangoon Red with standard black interior and a black top with a 260 and C4. I wasn't able to get the VIN but the car looks decent, needs a good detailing but is a nice "driver" and came from Georgia. With the amount of people taking chances my chance to win is slim but it's for a good cause and even though I don't focus on the 65-66 cars being a convert I do have slight interest. No plans to keep it, but would clean it up some and enjoy it for a year or so and use the funds for a 69 Sportsroof.........unless I fall in love with it. )

Hopefully a 1969 convertible or Sportsroof (non Mach or Boss) for next Mustang project

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.

Hi again. That's a good article in general, but, there are a couple of things that aren't really as accurate as they could be. The only cars that had the carpet that didn't run up under the scuff plates and had that stupid-looking vinyl patch were the coupes. The convertibles had full carpeting. As an interesting ( to some ) side note, some of the first batch of 65 Shelby GT-350s, which were fastbacks, had the full carpeting on the front piece, but the carpet in what would have been the back seat area was like a 64 1/2 coupe, with the vinyl thing on the rocker panels, and, if these cars had come with a door tag, the scheduled production date from Ford would have been early december of 64.
The cars built prior to early april had a different hood than what is considered to be the 64 1/2 hood. This hood didn't have those lips hanging down, but had some of the reinforcement bends missing that the later hoods had on there up in the area of the hood latch. I've got some pictures of one sitting around somewere. I'll see if I can find them. A lot of little things, but, it's also an old article.

Thanks for all the additional feed back on the Vin # .

Due to a list of honey do projects & repairing a friends 1980 Mazda 626 I have not done to much on the Mustang.

I have some frame damage in the rear right side that has to be straightened over the rear end so that I can replace the rear frame rail and replace the trunk. I found some one locally that has a frame straightener that needs some work done on the hydraulic system that I will be able to use after I fix the hydraulics.

Maybe I just missed it but you originally said that the title didn't match the car because of the door tag. You then found the underfender VINs on the car. Did they match the title? It sounded to me like the car wasnt tampered with but that it just had it's door replaced by someone who didn't think to save the old door tag and swap over......if so then you have the correct title, and car and just no door tag?
