Default 351w transmission swap to c6 possible

I found out that I have a windsor in my 72 mustang grande, I was told it was a cleveland. The trans needs rebuilt or replaced, I believe its a c4 by the pan. I have a c6 from an 82 f150 pickup, with a straight 6 engine. Question is will this trans bolt to the windsor and fit into the mustang besides having to change minor things for the swap. As soon as I get word on if this can work or not ill swap the trans. Thanks in advance to anyone who knows if its possible...

Won't fit, your trans is the old fmx 50,000 pounds of cast iron, Get a C4 from a Mustang, it will fit and you will save a few hundred pounds

Can someone tell me the main reason why it wont work? Will it not fit the body or bolt to the windsor?

The transmission in the mustang is not an fmx, I went and double checked, it is a c4.

The bellhousing bolt pattern for the windsor is the same as the 240-300 straight six from what I know. More than likely thats what engine is in the truck. If anyone can clear up why it wont work, thanks..

They made the c6 in two different bell housings one small block one big block. The small block ones was rare so your more likely to find the big block one.The c6 weights a lot and sucks up a lot of power.Your better off with a c4 or going to something with a over drive gear.

I have the truck and its running, is a smallblock and does have a c6 transmission. I will go for the swap since I know this transmission is good, plus I have more plans for this car and the c6 should be a good choice in the long run. Im just waiting on building a ramp to do the swap myself.
