try going to a ford dealer and have them run the vin. that should be able to tell you exactly when it was built. although i'm not sure they will go back that far, but hey you never know.

Hello. Ford destroyed the records of the 65/66 cars, so they won't be able to help you. But, the scheduled production date of your car would have been 11F, or, June 11th of 66. Hope that helps.

How were you able to nail that San Jose car's build date of June 11th right on the head without using a qualifier 'about' June 11?

Hi again. I have the data on three different cars that all fall within a spread of about 50, all of which are 11F. His is right in the middle of that. This is one that I am pretty confident with.

Veronica,

I'm impressed with your numbers. How large is your build-date database? Do you actively collect more dates as you find them? Will you someday have the 'Marti data' for the early cars?

I believe that Veronica is well on her way to having a reliable build database for the early Mustangs.

Hi again. I've got the data on about 6000 cars, and I've got some books that have data on some cars. There are a couple of books that I still don't have, but I will have them eventually. And yes, I do still collect the data when I can acquire it in a reliable manner, which means, when my own eyes see an original door tag, build sheet, or buck tag. I have all of the data on the cars that I have any data for, but I don't mention it when someone asks about a car. I made that mistake a few times a long time ago. They always wanted to argue with me. Their dad's cousin's brother-in-law told them that the car was originally red, not lime gold, and it came with a four-speed, 4.11 rear end, and it was a pony interior factory GT. I don't even go there with folks anymore. The data that I have is just a drop in the bucket, anyway. The millionth Mustang was a 66. That's a lot of cars. But, I keep plugging away.
