Default 1969 Mustang Grande in U-Pull-It yard

I just found a 1969 Triple Black Mustang Grande Coupe in the local u-pull-it yard. There is some rust in the lower fender where it is sitting on the ground. It is almost complete. The paint is still nice on it. They will sell it in sections only. The front and the back for $200 a piece because they don't have a title for there vehicles.

Get the VIN off the car, go to your local DMV and do a title search on it. Probably cost you ten bucks or so. You'll then be able to find out last registration, clear title, junk/salvage title, etc. Tell them what you're wanting to do and inquire about a retitling, re-registration of the vehicle. I've heard from various sources the re-titling can be a real headache, but at least you'll know from talking to your state DMV what's involved in you making this purchase.

Not sure of the legalities on the salvage yard's part about selling a complete vehicle, but if you've done the legwork and present the solution to them, they'd probably be more apt to sell the whole car to you, rather than cutting it in half and selling the sections to you.

Now - 5.0 motor, T5 tranny, R&P, full length subframe connectors, draglink bars, hedman headers
Coming soon - disc brakes, electronic ignition and a whole host of other stuff I forgot to mention. The list goes on and on. Basically, it's my new toy

I would rather have the whole thing instead of two halves. I no that when I was in Texas they would sell you the whole car with a salvage title. I guess that every state is different.

Here in CT they don't issue titles for older vehicles, bill of sales only. I wonder if they would sell you the car with a bill of sale only, but I don't know what the requirements are in your state.

Have you looked at the car closely? You might get lucky and find old registration or insurance cards in the car and atleast have some info on a previous owner.

(For newer cars here in CT the salvage yard will normally sign over whatever title they have for the vehicle, they're not always salvaged titles. Depends on how/why they came into the yard. A major wreck from an insurance company would have a salvage title but a vehicle an individual junked because of a blown motor or bad tranny wouldn't for example.)

It's definitely worth trying to save and you'd have to move quick since I heard the Pick n Pulls don't keep vehicles in thier yards for long. If that car is that nice and complete I'd throw them an offer of $550, that should make them consider since they'd only get $400 for both sections. Just a thought.

Hopefully a 1969 convertible or Sportsroof (non Mach or Boss) for next Mustang project

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.

I already have 7 cars now. My wife isn't going to let me have another one. I told her that I would get rid of the two non fords to get it but she said no. I understand where she is coming from since we don't have a garage built let.
