Default engine performance of the 1967 gt 500 from Gone in 60 Seconds

not sure if i did the title correctly, but after watching the movie recently it made me wonder.
in the big jump scene, right before he gets to the ramp (wrecker truck) i only counted two shifts so the car would be in 3rd geat at 90mph and the tachometer is showing 8000 rpm.
in the scene in the flood adjacent the car is going the same speed, about 100 mph tachometer getting close to 9000rpm, then he hits the nitrous. i assume the "go baby, go" button was on the shifter. if there wasn't another gear to shift into, i don't even know how to figure up the ratios to see what rpm the engine would be running. But being a big block v8 it seemed like it would have a lower redline.

i know it is movie magic and the car didn't actually go 160, just wondering if it could. don't worry, i'm headed over to a delorean chat forum and ask if you got one to 88mph if you could timetravel.
