Default Fan Clutch clearance

Half an inch should be fine, just be sure that it is 1/2 all around as some radiators are not straight/parrallel to the fan clutch. If the clearance is a problem you can go to the manufacturers web site and compare the various clutch fan specs and find one that has more clearance or is shorter from the waterpump to the end of the clutch. I had to do that with my 67 390/428 after changing to a 4 core radiator.

Do you have a shroud? I heard a half inch was about right, so I set my flex fan at that ( no shroud). So I gas up the car going around a corner and low and behold the fan cores a brand new 4-core radiator! I would have at least an inch. It'll pull the air through. You could go a little more if you have a shroud.
