Hello fellow Mustang lovers,
I am in the process of getting my 70 Mach 1 back on the road after 21 years in the garage. Recently I replaced the gas tank and am currently re-building my pretty new Holley due to varnish. The carb has about 1/2 hour run time.
This is a project I hope to complete this summer. The car does/did run last summer till the gas (old) was a problem.
Anyway, I put in the new tank but kept the openings closed with plastice. (No filler tube, lines etc hooked up.
I was thinking about making some sort of gas can to act as a temporary small gas tank. This "tank" would be near the front of the car. I was thinking of doing this so that I don't have to worry about the gas in the tank going bad. When I do hook up the tank I will use "stable" and octane boost. I was thinking it may be wiser to just bypass the tank for now.
I am a bit nervous to do this. I was in a fire when young and it scares me. What do yo people think? AM i being too careful by not just using the tank in the car?
THe car was running last year on a new/old gas combo. The gas was 20 years old and I was stupid. I had put on a new fuel pump and new carb. I just don't want to have more issue with bad gas. I want to eliminate that aspect so I can move along
and complete the full tune-up etc. I need to clean all the light sockets, may have to replace control arm bushing.
Well I wanted to get ideas about the fuel questions and see what you people think I should do.
Thanks in adcance.....Jim
