Default Oil leak? 69 Mustang 302CID (5.0)

I have white smoke burning off the underside of the driver side header. There is also oily gunk on the driver side oil pan and back to the underside of the transmission. After letting the car sit for some time there is oil on the ground. Where could this oil be escaping from?

Could be leaking from the back side of your head. Check to see if the oil filter is snug. Look at the screw in the oil pan where you drain it. Is there any fresh oil around the bolt? You may need a new "washer gasket thingy- it's a washer with rubber on it" when they go bad they do leak.

If it is leaking from the back of the head does that mean i need to replace the head gaskets?

If your oil looks fine and not milky it could just be the valve cover.
You could tighten it and see if the works if not you might need a new gasket.
If you have a bad head gasket you would get milky oil.

I considered that also and replaced the valve cover gaskets and made sure they were tightened down. Oil filter is snugg and pan bolt good. Could the oil pan gasket cause a leak like that, where it would be getting onto the headers to cause white smoke?
