There were 14,281 total in 68. It breaks down as 12,581 coupes, 864 fastbacks, and 836 converts.

If you tell me your body style and your interior code I can break it down even further for you.

Default thanks for the help

Thank you for the info.....I have a 289 2bl with a vinyl top and black interior. I wanted to get all the info I could get before deciding whether to change the color or not. More than likely I Will keep the seafoam green and repaint it. Do you know how it was produced in comparison with the other colres of that year? Where could I look to get info like this on the car?
thanks again
Matt

The info can be found in the book "Mustang.....by the Numbers, 1967-1973". That's where I got the info for my previous post in here.

I'm guessing you have the standard black interior, code 2A, and with that there were 4,877 coupes with that combo.

Today Seafoam Green is the least desirable color that was offered in 68. Back then it actually didn't do too bad sales wise, although it was in no way a sales leader back then. Surprisingly it out did Brittany Blue and Raven Black! Those are popular colors today.

Here's how many of each color were produced in 68, all body styles:

Lime Gold......................42,724
Candyapple Red.............34,146
Acapulco Blue................27,507
Wimbledon White............26,932
Highland Green...............25,382
Sunlit Gold.....................24,971
Meadowlark Yellow..........23,093
Gulfstream Aqua.............20,275
Royal Maroon.................15,718
Diamond Blue.................14,419
Seafoam Green...............14,281
Brittany Blue..................12,733
Presidential Blue..............11,115
Tahoe Turquoise..............8,244
special paint...................5,939
Raven Black....................5,245
Pebble Beige...................4,687

NOTE: I included the "special paint" cars in the list also just so you can see how many were produced in an off color in 68 compared to the standard cataloged colors. The special paint cars would be any shade of any color and it's truely unknown how many additional green cars or blue cars were made or how many orange or pink cars were made where those colors weren't available in any shade in the standard ones.

Thanks for all your help Jim. I am actually a little surprised it sold as much as it did. I think I am going to still keep the color even though I am not a big fan.....

I have a seafoam green 1968 coupe that i just bought a few weeks ago,. Stored for 27 years still original with the 200 6 cylnder and 3 speed. I like the seafoam color and plan to repait it all original. I hate to modify classics. This car will be pristine and look as it did that day it drove of the showroom floor. Keep the green!!!

Jay H 237, I'd heard that Lime gold was very popular in '67 too! Would you post '67 colors by the numbers?

Was Lime Gold number 1?

I have a friend with a '67 Diamond Blue convertible. It probably wasn't very popular in '67, but I never see them at shows. One of our forum members - RPM Carter - has one in Texas.

Dallas Matt, I'd keep the Seafoam Green too! It's an unusual color. I look forward to seeing your car around Massachusetts some day. Our club cruises on Monday nights on Cape Cod during the summer if you ever get down this way.

Yep, Lime Gold was number one again, and by a VERY big margin!

The 67 colors in order, all body styles (notes at bottom), from most to least popular.

Lime Gold.........................73,760
Candyapple Red.................52,158
Wimbledon White...............42,903
Dark Moss Green................42,783
Springtime Yellow...............38,065
Vintage Burgandy...............25,228
Acapulco Blue....................25,001
Brittany Blue......................24,843
Clearwater Aqua.................21,778
Nightmist Blue....................20,704
Frost Turquoise..................19,556
Burnt Amber.......................18,708
Sauterne Gold....................14,757
Raven Black.......................10,526
Arcadian Blue.....................8,844
Pebble Beige.......................7,979
Special Paint.....................7,490
Diamond Green....................5,017
Silver Frost.........................4,219
Beige Mist...........................2,818
Diamond Blue.......................2,677
Dusk Rose...........................2,395

There were 99 converts in 67 that were Diamond Blue.

There was 1 fastback each that were Diamond Blue and Diamond Green! Talk about 1 of 1 cars!!!

Some personal observations: Looking at this list for 67s and the list I did a few months ago for 68s there are some things I find interesting. First, black wasn't a popular color, not like it is today. Same with silver. Second, Acapulco Blue did very well both years but I have been to many shows including some all Ford ones and my 68 was the only Acapulco Blue car there! I've seen many Brittany Blue cars and in 67 it was only about 150 units behind Acapulco. Third, the color popularity lists show why there's so many Lime Gold cars around or ones that were Lime Gold originally. Fourth, Candyapple Red and Wimbledon White did very well and it shows today as those cars are two of the most popular I still see today. Those colors have stood the test of time and are still popular, even taking some of those Lime Gold cars away as they got repainted CR and WW or even Raven Black, bring it's popularity up today.

I have the Gibson too and love it, my brother got his from ebay but I wanted a valid warranty(the winter salt here destroys metal) so I got it here. gibson 14419, or you can try one of the vendors here on the forum, they are allways having sales/specials. Either way its a great system and very easy to install and for the price you give it a look.

Thank Jay....we should have paid YOU for the report instead of Marti...
Btw with the help of 67Rags....I am aware of 4 of the 99 convertibles that live today!!! and 2 have black interior like mine, the other two have blue and red.

Dallas Matt....good choice on keeping that color...with today's paint technology it will look better than the day it rolled off the floor!!!!

While we're on this topic, how about the sales reports for 1966 if anyone has them (or is it 1967- only)? I'm curious to see how many Arcadian Blue's made it.

66 and before records were destroyed by Ford so there's no definite way to know.
