Default Options for the trunk

I have a 1968 Mustang and I am in the process of cleaning her up. I have been looking around and I have found the factory plaid fabric in a few places on the 'net. I like this route, but I would like something a little different.

What have you done to your classic in the trunk besides the all original option? (Pictures requested)

Don't have any pictures at the moment, but one thing I did was to add tank armor on top the gas tank and had it painted the same color as the exterior. I plan to surround it with carpeting rather than the stock plaid sheet but haven't completed the project just yet. There are carpet kits available from several suppliers that look very nice when installed. Not sure yet how to deal with the opening for the armor.

If you could get a chance, I would love to see what you have now.

Most places sell a trunk carpet kit.

I was thinking of painting my carpet to match the exterior paint job. Or adding in a set of base speakers and doing that with all of it.

Saw a guy at a car show that had put a small tool kit into his trunk. Part of it was on the lid and part of it was on the base but all if it blended in. Curious to see pictures of the tank armor though.

Here are a couple of shots of the tank armor in a dimly-lit garage. Pretty dark but you get the idea. See my profile for better pics of the exterior color. For more info on the tank armor see the link below. As I said, I plan to carpet around the armor and may eventually put in a CD changer. I only carry a spare on longer trips to shows and would cover the armor with a towel in that case.<br />

im actually in the process of makin a custom fit toolbox type deal in my trunk. I usually keep all of my junk, tools, extras, ect, in the farthest part back in the trunk, right behind the rear seat and right below the speakers. The only thing is that whenever i go anywhere, everything seems to slide back. So i want to keep the trunk space next to my spare open for other things, groceries, more junk, w/e. The area i keep my stuff in the far back steps up about 4 inches from the rest of the trunk, so that area im going to frame out, and possibly have some sort of door with a lock or hasp. In the end im either going to paint the divider black, or i may look into getting some of that plaid material and covering it with that. I will try to post some pics of that as well as the center console i made....

My dad has a real nice custom trunk in his 56 Chevy. Check them out for some ideas.
