Default 1967 Shelby GT-500 pedigree help?

I'm trying to help a friend document a 1967 Shelby GT-500 so it can be sold.
An alledged car appraiser gave a "Barrett_Jackson" fantasy appraisal and this was used as the basis for a financial settlement, then the appraiser came back with another appraisal with a caveat that the car could be a clone.

The Shelby American VIN tag on the fender looks legit with the # 67D2F2U00950
How do I verify or cross reference this with a Ford VIN #

0950 is not showing on the Shelby registry. The Ford VIN on would be under the Shelby VIN Plate, you can check the passenger side inner fener panel but you will need to remove the fender to see it.

Your VIN does not break down the way my guide says it should for 1967 Shelby GT500 the engine code on your VIN is a 2 (289) not a 4 (428).

I double checked the #, I didn't copy it correctly.
It reads 67402F2U00950.
We did just register it with SAAC.

Hello. You could call Dave Mathews at SAAC. He's the 67 registrar. If there has been any sort of weirdness associated with the car, he's probably heard about it.
