Default Tire manufacture ?

I own a '66 that was originally purchased new by my grandfather. Trying to keep it as authentic as possible. Does anybody know what mfg Ford used for tires on the '66? I have looked on web sites for several years and have not been able to find anything. I seem to think it was Firestone. Can anyone confirm, deny or direct?

I have another question that may need to be directed to the tech side, but I am new to the forum and will claim ignorance at this time...I am not a gearhead at all, so what do they mean by "back space" when sizing tires? The reason I ask is that my car seems to sit lower than other Mustangs from the same era. I don't see the clearance between the top of the tire to the fender as I see on other cars.

Most of the 65' - 66' Mustang were fitted with Firestone Champions or Deluxe Champion reproduction bias-ply tires from Coker Tire.

Backspacing is the distance from the mounting surface to the inside lip of the wheel. This measurement is closely related to "offset" which is the distance from the centerline of the wheel to the face of the mounting surface of the wheel that contacts the hub. *see attached picture for a visual example of the different wheel measurements*
