There should be a VIN stamped on the left rear corner of the block, and a VIN stamped around the front of the trans. They should both match the car's VIN. BTW, I also own a Boss 351, it's dark metallic green with a black interior. Welcome to the forum.

Hi Karen.

The first thing that you would want to do would be to go here
::Marti Auto Works - 1955 - 1989 Ford Parts and get the Marti report on your car. That will tell you exactly what your car came with, what color, which interior, etc.. it really came with, and, exactly when it was actually built. From there, you can then start checking the date codes on the block, heads, intake, etc... all of the sheet metal, all of the tags on the car, like the carb, rear axle, steering gear box and so forth. That way, you at least know what the numbers are supposed to match up with.
